CELEBRATING AUTUMN HARVEST AND EASTER WITH YOUNG CHILDREN

Ebba Bodame

‘Its golden in the treetops Its golden in the sky’

When we celebrate a season we show gratitude for the treasures given to us. We help our children connect to nature and to gradually build a sense of responsibility for our Mother Earth. .

In this workshop we will be looking at how to create a seasonal nature table and how to guide children towards the festival through activities , stories, songs and food.

Ebba Bodame is a Steiner early childhood educator. She has given talks and workshops for parents and teachers over many years. She is also the author of ‘Early Childhood Wisdom’. Based on her own childhood festival experiences, which are still a source of strength and nourishment for her, she wishes to help today’s parents to find ways to meaningfully celebrate their own family or community festivals.

MICHELMAS/EQUINOX CELEBRATION

Diane Tatum

In this session we’ll explore the theme of St Michael and the Dragon through storytelling, songs, speech and drama as a way of marking the change of the season in community. The legendary tale of ‘Overcoming the monster” is an archetypal story with particular meaning for our time.

Song packs and recordings will be available for all participants, so be sure to book early. If you have a special contribution you’d like to make to share in the celebration, please sing out!

Diane Tatum discovered her true calling through the celebration and co-creation of seasonal festivals at Kamaroi School over the course of 25+ years. She’s in awe of the myriad ways that festivals can uplift and nourish groups of people, particularly in times of crisis and hardship, as each member of the group strives towards realising a spiritual ideal, working together in service to the community.

Monday 21st march 7.30 – 9pm $20

  • Birthday parties that build on imagination rather than overstimulation and spending
  • Gift ideas
